General Characteristics of Entire Curriculum

It is all about choice and “allowing” students to be creative and innovative in music. My biggest challenge is time. Students use time at home to work on musical projects and hopefully become “lovers” of the arts. Very, very few will become a professional musician, which is not my goal. However, I have had at least ten of my students become professional musicians, currently in Nashville, Seattle, Chicago, Los Angeles and New York making a living as a musician/actress. My goals are simple: for each student feel success as a performer and create musical projects for others. I may have a future school board president, a politician, or even a superintendent in my classes, I want them to see the value of the arts through what it does and what it can become. They may not remember all the facts about human body, but they remember “Let George Do It,” a musical about George Washington.  -  “First in war, first in peace, first in the hearts of his countryman!”
